Starkid glossary

Plain-language meanings of the words Starkid uses — admission request, School ID, batch, and more.

A quick guide to the words you'll see in Starkid.

Admission request

The request a parent sends to enrol their child in a school. The school approves, holds, or rejects it.

School ID

The code a school gives its staff so they can request to join that school in the School app.

Class

A group children belong to — Academic (yearly, like Nursery / LKG / UKG) or Non Academic (short programs like sports, arts, or daycare).

Section

A smaller group within a class — like A and B. Sections are named automatically (A, B, C…) and can be renamed.

Batch

The group of children moving through a class together in one academic year. A new year starts a new batch; the class stays the same.

Academic year

The school year Starkid uses to organise classes, enrolment, and reports.

Post

An update a school shares — an announcement, learning post, photos, audio, event, or celebration.

Attendance

The daily record of who was Present or Absent (parents may also see Late, Half Day, Sick, or Excused).

Theme Color Day

A scheduled event where the class focuses on a chosen colour, set as a Theme Color Day Event post.

Role

What a staff member can do — for example Teacher, Admin, or Owner.

Community

A Starkid feed of helpful ideas (activities, tips) that parents can choose to follow in the Explore tab.

OTP

The one-time password — a 6-digit code sent by SMS that you use to log in instead of a password.
